IMPORTANT REMINDER:

Upon first application of our classic Lip-Ink® colour, to ensure proper colour, you must first wipe the tip of the applicator. Please note that LIP-INK® products may tingle, this reaction is normal. The sensation is due to the natural organic herbs and botanical ingredients. Remember to open the vials carefully, as LIP-INK's® formulas are LIQUID. They can spill, or splatter and when in contact with clothing, carpet, etc. may stain. To remove from clothing, first use the Off solution and then cover with toilet soap and leave to soak overnight in warm water. (I have completely removed it from white linen trousers!)

The codes that appear randomly on colour and shine vials provide Internal QC information only.

We think you will find the answers to most of questions here - but you may have a question which is not answered here - no that is not a challenge!

FAQs

  • LIP-INK COLOUR can not be lightened. However the intensity may be altered by using either 1, 2, or 3 layers of colour. We also know that Arcturian Pink or Venusian Flesh as a final layer are very useful indeed at lightening colours that would be too dark with three layers

    Or supplement any of the layers of colour with layers of CLEAR. Remember you must use three layers of LIP-INK for maximum staying power.

    The MAGIC POWDERS may also be layered to create lightness within a colour.

  • No. LIP-INK® COLOUR is not compatible with wax or petroleum based products, this includes: lip balms, lip glosses, lipsticks, pencil lip liners, petroleum jelly - practically every product for the lips on the market today.

  • YES. However, mix them by layering on the lips. Not by actually mixing the product. Only Lip-Ink® Cosmetics sheer, natural, herbal formulas can be layered together - making over 250,000 personalized colours.

  • YES. The OFF solution must be used before you apply LIP-INK COLOUR. Off must be used to remove colour even if the colour appears to have worn off hours after application. If this step is not followed, a temporary discolouration of the lips may occur which can be easily removed with LIP-INK™ Off. The Off solution also aids with the exfoliation process.

  • YES. The SHINE moisturiser is to be used both under and on top of LIP-INK® COLOUR. Under the colour, the SHINE moisturizes the lips and gives you a smooth surface on which to apply colour. When used over LIP-INK® COLOUR, the SHINE moisturiser gives you the feel of lipstick as well as protection from dryness.

  • Brushes provided with the LIP-INK STARTER KIT are recommended for use with one colour only. Allowing the colour to dry on the brush, leaves you with a firmer bristle to create a more precise line. Do not clean with OFF solution.
  • If applied daily, approximately 3 months.

  • Try removing any spilled LIP-INK® COLOUR with the OFF solution, (be sure to do a spot test first). but sooner the better if the spill is on something absorbent! To remove from clothing - after using the Off solution, cover with toilet soap and soak overnight in warm water - it will come out - miraculously!

  • 1. LIP-INK® Patented Wax Free™ Semi-Permanent® Cosmetics are a liquid and can spill. Always keep vial in a vertical position and remove applicator slowly.
    2. You may feel a strong tingling sensation when applying LIP-INK® Wax Free™ Semi-Permanent® Lip Colour™. This is normal and comes from feeling the 190 proof, rosemary flavoured, corn grain alcohol on your lips. It keeps LIP-INK® Cosmetics antiseptically fresh and preservative free.
    3. Make sure you use the LIP-INK® SHINE/MOISTURIZER before applying the COLOUR.
    4. Comb through with the brush provided to reduce shine and integrate colour into the existing brow line.
    5. Avoid opening during flight as air pressure may cause splatter or leakage.
    6. We do not recommend using LIP-INK® MIRACLE BROW® LINER or LIP-INK® LIP LINER as eye liner.
    7. We suggest that you do not use LIP-INK® Cosmetic products with any other lipstick or eye products. Including petroleum jelly, wax, lip balm or Chapstick-type products either over or under LIP-INK™ Cosmetic products. They are not compatible and will compromise the staying power of LIP-INK® Cosmetic products.
    8. Keep product away from heat and flame!
    9. Avoid contact with inner eye or broken skin.
    10. If you notice any adverse reaction, discontinue use. If irritation persists, consult a Doctor.
    11. Keep LIP-INK® Cosmetic products out of reach of children.
    12. Avoid contact with clothing and carpeting. If you have a stain or spill, LIP-INK® OFF solution may be used, along with warm water and soap. Rub the affected area with ordinary toilet soap and leave to soak overnight ideally

  • They are sheer frosted colours mixed into the SHINE moisturiser base and are offered in a number of shades including HONEY ROSE or BRONZE OPAL. This product will wear off unless "locked" in with the LIP-INK® COLOUR or CLEAR.
  • Here are some possible reasons:

    • The applicator needs to be cleaned;
    • too many layers (more than 3) are being applied;
    • it is being applied too thick;
    • it is not being applied in one direction only;
    • you are pausing with the applicator against your lip;
    • SHINE moisturizer is not being applied before LIP-INK™ COLOUR;
    • lips were touched or were blotted while colour was drying;
    • you may not be shaking the vial correctly
    • or the colour vial may be nearly empty.
    • the vial has not been kept tightly closed and the colour has evaporated

  • For Liner mistakes, apply the OFF solution to a Q-tip and correct any problems. For Lip Colour, the second and or third layer will generally even out variations in tone. If the mistake occurs during the third layer, a fresh application may be necessary
  • Wipe applicator stem once a week with tissue to remove any build up.

  • The SHINE moisturizer can be used as a base and top coat with LIP-INK COLOURS, or can be used alone to soothe and nourish dry lips. The CLEAR has the same ingredients that make up LIP-INK COLOUR minus the pigment. This helps to "lock" in the magic powders, or to replace one or two of the layers of colour in the application of three layers of LIP-INK COLOUR. Remember three layers of LIP-INK COLOUR are required for maximum staying power.

  • 3 years providing the cap is closed tightly after each application, and it is not stored in extreme heat.
  • A "tingling" sensation is caused by the natural herbal and botanical ingredients contained in LIP-INK Cosmetics, this is a normal reaction and over time your lips will become adjusted.

  • The natural pigment of your lips may slightly alter the LIP-INK® COLOUR you've chosen. Just like perfume not smelling the same on different users - so it can be with Lip Ink Colours, your own chemical make-up can alter the way the colour looks on your lips.Lighting and application techniques may also cause a slight variation. However once the colour is applied, it will remain true.

  • You may be applying colour too quickly. The slower LIP-INK COLOUR is applied, the more pigment is absorbed into the lips, leaving you with a richer, deeper colour. You may also be using too much shine moisturizer as a base coat, or not massaging it in thoroughly.
  • Make sure you are using the entire width of the applicator. This will help to insure that colour is being distributed along the inner portion as well as the outer portion of your lip.

  • Either the product is not being shaken properly, or there is not enough colour left in the vial. Or you may not have properly sealed the vial in between usages? Use a toothpick inserted into the vial to determine if you are running out of colour.

  • LIP-INK OFF solution remaining on the lips will break down freshly applied colour. Make sure the OFF solution has been completely removed with water. Any foreign substance on the lips such as petroleum, wax, (lipstick or lip balm) will compromise the integrity as well. Remember that three layers of LIP-INK Colour must be applied for the maximum staying power, along with a final coat of shine.
  • The vial is to be filled from the 4oz bottle of OFF solution. This solution is to be applied with a cosmetic pad or a tissue. Using an applicator for the OFF would compromise the solution remaining in the vial.

  • It seems there are number of clients whose chemical make up cause some colours to become much more blue on that they appear on other's lips. Just as one perfume will not smell the same on different users - so it can be with Lip Ink Colours.

    Clearly you want to avoid the Lip Colours that have blue in for a start! Choose the orangey tones and then if they still go blue the solution is to use the Lemon Toner on top of the colour you have chosen - this takes out those blue tones - but you will find you have to trial this to find the perfect combination for you. Amazingly you might find the Lip Liner does not do this - just because it is on the edge of your lips!

  • For the best results, apply the LINER to relaxed lips one quarter section at a time. Do not apply the Moisturiser until after you have used your lip liner. Avoid any facial hair or applying thick layers to decrease the chance of uneven lines.
  • We do and so far we have been most successful - even to Italy which is not always the easiest place to send to! I suspect that we may well have similar concerns about sending to Eastern Europe - but we are always willing to try!

    However depending on the value of your order we would probably advise you to have the extra signed for security of 'Airsure' which adds in the region of £5 to your order - but we would be best to discuss your requirements.
  • From a mere 48p up to £1.84 within the UK as we have a very reliable First Class post - your order would normally arrive the next day - but bear in mind the only post leaves at 10:30 in the morning! Almost all jiffy bags will come through your letter box, BUT the Sampler Kit has a 4 oz bottle of Off in it which is too plump for your letter box!
  • First of all you should be aware that with the 3 layer Lip Ink® application process some colours can look considerably darker on, than they appear on a white background on our webpages. Your own chemical make up may have a tendency to turn some colours more blue.

    However Lip Ink UK knows that it is is vital for us (you and us) to find a colour that you feel absolutely delighted with at the earliest opportunity. We now have various ways of helping you to get to this point - you can send a colour sample of your current lipstick - see below, or you can ask us whether we have Testers for the colours you think might work for you. This is only available if you order/pay for a Sampler Kit - each vial carries a loan charge of £1. Unopened colours may be returned for refund. Opened colours may be returned but we clearly can no longer sell these and we levy a £5 charge on each one. But more often than not the solution is layering - i.e. mixing at least two colours to get exactly what you are looking for. We will work towards achieving this with you!
  • A customer suggested sending her current colour on a tissue to us to match - and this is such a simple and brilliant idea!

    However be sure to put the tissue in a polybag - just in case it comes through the envelope and damages somebody else's post! We will then do our best to match that colour. However you do have to be aware that sometimes your own chemical makeup can alter some Lip Ink® colours. Like perfume often does not smell the same on different wearers? Some of you will know that you tend to turn colours bluey - if you let us know we can counteract that! There is a £5 charge for this service which is refundable upon the purchase of a Sampler Kit.
  • Because of the recommended application technique it is not possible to provide free samples. However we have evolved ways of overcoming this! If you order a Sampler Kit - £30 plus £1.84 postage we often can supply you with Tester vials of the same colours as your Kit (these are not always available - we may be awaiing returns) - which allows you to try these out without opening the the colour vials in the Kit. We charge a modest £1 each for these but they must be returned as soon as we have established your ideal colour combination. If these a rnot subsequently returned promptly then we will charge you £5 for each Tester.
